California’s inaugural Heat Pump Week commences statewide to speed heat pump adoption

Heat Pump Week engages contractors, communities, policymakers, and industry professionals for a week of educational, experiential, and training events to build awareness of heat pumps and drive market momentum.

Sacramento, CA – The inaugural Heat Pump Week officially commenced this Saturday in a milestone moment for California’s clean energy future. This statewide activation hosted by the California Heat Pump Partnership (CAHPP) brings together policymakers, heat pump manufacturers, retailers, distributors, utilities, local experts and enthusiasts, and other key market stakeholders to build awareness of heat pumps and rapidly accelerate adoption across California.

Throughout this week and month, over 100 in-person, virtual, and hybrid events will take place up and down the state to showcase how highly efficient heat pumps are transforming home comfort, lowering energy bills, creating jobs, and supporting the state’s climate targets. The programming is anchored by three flagship events in San Francisco, Sacramento, and Los Angeles, and will also feature contractor trainings, product demonstrations, community open houses, webinars, educational workshops, and local activations.

“Heat pumps are a cornerstone of California’s clean energy transition, because they offer extraordinarily efficient and increasingly affordable space and water heating for households,” said David Hochschild, Chair of the California Energy Commission. “By engaging stakeholders in fun and interactive events across the state, Heat Pump Week is building awareness of these superb appliances to help make them the standard choice for every California home.”

Heat Pump Week arrives at a pivotal moment in California’s clean energy transition. Buildings remain the state’s second-largest source of greenhouse gas emissions, and the state has set a goal to install 6 million heat pumps by 2030. Fortunately, heat pumps are already becoming an industry standard—with California’s 2025 Energy Code encouraging energy-efficient heat pumps for space and water heating—and demand is growing by the day. Ninety percent of heat pump owners say they would recommend one to others, and it’s no wonder since they provide highly efficient, comfortable, and affordable heating and cooling in one system.

Heat Pump Week leverages The Switch is On, a statewide electrification marketing and education platform that connects homeowners and renters to qualified contractors, available incentives, and trusted resources to support the adoption of electric technologies. The campaign also utilizes an expanded version of the Contractor Hub, a digital workspace providing heat pump professionals with free customer leads, support agents, and information on the current marketing and incentive landscape to help boost heat pump service offerings, automate tasks, and simplify interfacing with customers.
